Navigation
The Oxfordinfo team thought long and hard about the best system of navigation to adopt for the website. Eventually, we decided that a hierarchical navigation system would be most suitable. With this concept, we divided the site into 4 main categories: History, Tourism, Entertainment and Accommodation. These four top-level categories are accessed using the large buttons along the header of the site:

As you rollover each title, you will notice that each category highlights with a different colour. This was another decision we took to define each section more clearly, and that colour will feature within several elements of each section.

Click on a section of interest, and you will notice that the title remains highlighted with a small arrow underneath to indicate your current selection. Each category fearures several sub-categories. This can usually be accessed through a couple of means. Often the category homepage will feature links to each sub-category. Alternatively, links to all sub-categories are provided down the right-hand side of all pages within that category. This is particularly useful for jumping from one sub-category to another:

This is the basis of the Oxfordinfo navigation structure. You may also have noticed a select number of links to various sections from the homepage. Here we display 6 categories/sub-categories which we feel are of the greatest interest on first visit, and provide access to the most popular sections with fewer clicks.

Finally, we have included an information bar at the top of all pages that currently links to our latest news items, and displays date information. We have called this feature "Live bar", and due to the nature of its implimentation, we can update it across all pages easily, and so you may see its appearance change from time to time:

Search
To search all pages on Oxfordinfo, use the search field at the top-right corner of each page. To achieve best results:
  1. Only search for key terms
  2. Avoid abbreviations or punctuation
  3. If no results are returned, try variants on the phrase

Results are listed by relevance, as indicated by the relevance bar to the left of each result.

An example phrase that you may wish to search for would be "St. John's College". For this example, it is recommended to search for the key term "johns".

We are constantly improving the reliablity of the search feature. If you are experiencing problems, please feel free to drop us an email.
